MOP Creative Courses

MOP offer a range of Theatre and Creative Arts Courses which give you a chance to step up alongside professional theatre makers, craftspeople and artists.

MOP workshops include sessions on Stanislavski technique, physical theatre, mask performance, writing for theatre, Shakespeare and more.

We cater for all levels, from beginners to experienced performers aged 11 and upwards. We are also happy to design specific courses to suit your needs and budgets.

Teenage Kicks

KicksTeenage Kicks is a regular youth theatre session at your home venue or Village Hall, culminating in a festival performance of short plays.

All MOP workshop leaders have full CRB clearance for youth work and bring an enthusiastic and disciplined approach to youth theatre performances.




Play In Production

ProductionPlay in Production is a series of workshops for adults in which participants explore the creative process of producing a short play from script selection to rehearsal, technical theatre and performance.

One evening per week for 8 weeks, culminating in a public performance of the work.



Writing For Theatre

playwritingThe MOP Writing for Theatre course takes you on a journey from stimulus material to the production of a short, finished script for rehearsed reading.

This 2-day, weekend workshop teaches you how to develop your writing for the stage and offers a chance to workshop your script with professional actors.






Exploring Shakespeare Through Performance

ShakyFocusing on two Shakespeare plays, The Taming of the Shrew and Macbeth, this 8-week / 1-evening workshop uses practical dramatic techniques and exercises to explore the characters, themes and language of Shakespeare’s work and de-mystify Shakespeare in performance.








Legend and Landscape

stonehengeLegend and Landscape is a site-specific project comprising a workshop weekend and five evening sessions exploring alternative locations for performance in your area and drawing on local myth and legend to facilitate a new piece for performance.








Lantern Making and Processional Performance

processionLearn how to make your own willow lantern and explore routes and happenings for an impromptu evening procession to light up the town.

A creative, hands-on workshop with a startling candlelit finale all in one day.

Writing for Film

MOP's new Writing for Film course helps you understand film screenplay structure and build your ideas into a finished framework for dialogue development.

Writing for Film helps you get to grips with exposition, establishing character, screenplay format, plot points and dramatic climax.

Learn new skills for arranging scenes and sequences to keep your audience hooked from the vital first 10 minutes to the dramatic resolution.

MOP offers group screenwriting  workshops ideal for Media Studies students working on GCSE and A Level film projects.

The course is also available as a one-to one session for individual writers of all ages.
